I intentionally implemented elements of the Tower and the Emperor because of the direct association with Mars and Aries respectively. I used the skull of the ram in reference to the first sign's bodily rulership and animal authority. The color palette is primarily red to represent vitality and Aries' nature as a fire sign. I included imagery of the honeysuckle because it is one of Aries' birth flowers. The lively presence of the flower and the honey bee are meant to juxtapose the destruction and death of a tower moment. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe first tarot card ever pulled for me was the Tower. At the time, I was sixteen or seventeen and I laughed at the prospect of my own misfortune, \"Of course, \u003cem\u003eI\u003c\/em\u003e would get that card.\" I now realize that the tower card is easy to misunderstand or misread. With destruction comes great power because there is opportunity for restoration and limitless potential for growth. When you hit rock bottom, the only place to go is up. As a mars-ruled individual, I smile at the tower because, to me, it embraces the downfall of paradigms rooted in hierarchy. Taurus rules the bull whose image is featured in the background, emulating \"Le Taureau\" by Pablo Picasso and Fernand Mourlot. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThe color palette is varying shades of green to represent Taurus' nature as an earth sign, grounded by connection to plant.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThe Empress wears a less traditional flower crown and their reproductive region is covered by a cannabis leaf. Cannabis has been used for millennia to treat a plethora of health issues including depression which I have been diagnosed with since I was about thirteen years old. This piece is also an eulogy for who I was when I used marijuana to self-medicate. From the age of nineteen to twenty two, I was high virtually everyday. I numbed out reality for three almost four years straight. I’m grateful for plant medicine, but my love affair with Mary Jane was a dependency that I outgrew.
